Book 12

Still reeling from their experiences in Roanoke in 1600, Jonah and Katherine arrive in 1611 only moments before a mutiny on Henry Hudson's ship in the icy waters of James Bay. But things are messed up; they've lost the real John Hudson, and they find what seems to be the fabled Northwest Passage- even though they are pretty sure that the route doesn't actually exist. Will this new version of history replace the real past? Is this the end of time as we know it? With more at stake than ever before, Jonah and Katherine struggle to unravel the mysteries of 1611 and the Hudson Passage...before everything they know is lost.

I was kind of confused during part of this book. Which probably sounds really pathetic considering this is a book typically meant for teenagers!! But all the rules of time travel were getting jumbled around and I had a hard time keeping it all straight sometimes!!
I did like it though!! But now, unfortunately, I have to wait CLEAR until September for the next book in the series to come out!! Oh how I hate waiting for the next book in a good series!!!

Books 10 & 11

BOOK 10
You cant re-read The Hunger Games and NOT go on to finish the whole series!! And besides, I LOVED Catching Fire the first time and it has been awhile since I last read it so, why not?? There are all kinds of crazy twists in this one and the end has a major cliff hanger!! I cant wait for this one to be made into a movie!! November 2013 cant come soon enough!!

BOOK 11
After helping Chip and Alex survive 15th century London, Jonah and Katherine are summoned to help another missing child, Andrea, face her fate. Andrea is really Virginia Dare, from the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Jonah and Katherine are confident in their ability to help Andrea fix history, but when their journey goes dangerously awry, they realize that they may be in over their head. They've landed in the wrong time period. Andrea doesn't seem that interested in leaving the past. And even worse, it appears that someone has deliberately sabotaged their mission...

I'm still liking this series! Yes, I know the story follows a 13 year old kid, but I like it because I know there are not going to be any "interesting" parts that I am embarrassed to read! If I'm being honest though, this was probably my least favorite of the three I've read so far. It was kind of slow...... it felt like a lot of repetition to me. And Andrea is kind of a really obnoxious 13 year old girl {I know, I know.... I shouldn't be surprised by that}, by the end, I was just ready for her story to be over!!
But that didn't stop my from wanting to read the next one!! And I just found out today that the book I am reading now is not the last one in the series! Ahh!! I should have known!! The next book doesn't come out until September!! Have I ever told you how impatient I get waiting for the next book in a series {waiting for the Harry Potter books just about killed me}!?!

Something I did love about this book though was that it was about the Lost Colony of Roanoke! I remember learning about it in elementary school and found it fascinating {probably makes me really weird, I know}.
But how does a whole group of people just disappear?? Did the Indians kill them all?? Did they just move to another island?? Did they try to sail back to England and get shipwrecked along the way?? Maybe one day we will know!!

Time Capsule

Back in 2002 for a Young Women’s activity we made time capsules. We filled out papers about ourselves and filled our cans with whatever we wanted!! We sealed them and agreed not to open them for 10 whole years.
Mine sat under my bed for years and years, collecting large quantities of dust. Every so often I would pull it out and consider opening it. But, I was strong and held out.
Back in 2002, the year 2012 seemed SO far away! I was going to be OLD in 2012!! But looking back, 2002 seems like just yesterday! The years flew by so quickly!!

In February my best friend Lacey and I got together to open our cans!! When that can was sealed I was also with Lacey! It was fun to open them together!!

Look at what was in my can:

Pictures of boys, pictures from the Olympics, notes to friends, clippings of clothes and shoes and jewelry I wanted, a Strength of Youth pamphlet and a cut out of Dr Pepper!! I don’t know what I was hoping would be in that can, but there wasn’t anything I was super excited to find! It was pretty fun to read through the “About Me” papers though!! Here are some of the things I wrote, word for word!

I have plenty of happy times in my life, but overall I’d have to say the best day was when I went to the Olympics and when I did honor choir. Then there was the worst day, which I’d like to forget. One that day, I fell off a ledge in Snow Canyon. My proudest moment was when I got accepted to NHS. My most embarrassing moment was when I fell down the stairs at school and fell up too. {Even then I fell down a lot!!}
