Flashback Friday

A few weeks ago I had a big scare with my computer!! It was on and running fine before dinner, so I shut it off and put it in my room. But later that night when I tried to turn it back on it did absolutely nothing! I couldn't get it to come on at all! Needless to say I had a mini panic attack!! All I could think about was the hundreds of pictures that I had on my hard drive that I assumed were lost forever!!
My wonderful Dad figured out what was wrong and the next day I was able to bring everything up as usual. THANK GOODNESS!! But I was so nervous that it would die again and that it wouldn't come back the next time! So the next afternoon I spent about 5 hours copying all of my pictures onto CDs. I doubled did everything just in case!! I figure I will keep one set of the CDs at my house and then I will take the other set to my safe deposit box at the credit union! That way if there is every a fire or something weird at my house, I will have copies in another place!! Isn't technology awesome!!
It was kind of fun going through all the pictures!! I found a lot of really random stuff in my MISC Picture folder! It also reminded me of some things I never blogged about!! So I thought for the next couple of weeks I would do a Flashback Friday where I go back through and write about some of the things that I missed!!!
This is really more for myself than anything! Sorry!!! But I love using my blog as a journal and I want to remember this stuff!!!

So here it goes: Flashback Friday #1

In March I got to have a Girls Afternoon with some of my greatest friends!! It was SO much fun getting together and catching up!! I have been friends with these girls forever!! I have knows most of them for my entire life! After we all graduated we all kind of went our separate ways. We kept in touch through emails and texts and every so often we would all be home on the same weekends. And then of course most of them got married and started families of their own and that made it a little harder to keep in touch because everyone was so busy!!

But like I said, in March we all made time to get together!! One of them even had to drive 2 hours to meet up with us (you're awesome Amanda). We went to the Desert Star Playhouse to see Twi-Lite which was so hilarious!! We got to eat popcorn, yummy pizza and delicious cheese bread!!
I had so much fun with these girls and hope that we can do it again soon!! THANKS Amanda, Rachel, Amber, Lindsay and Emily!! You guys are the best!!

P.S. We missed you LACEY!!!! We all need to get together soon!!!

Little Things People Say

First off I need to thank everyone that gave me for suggestions for finding yellow shoes!!
Cheri, THANK YOU so much for the links!! I actually bought the shoes from Debs!! I love them!! The only thing is I found out her sister is wearing the exact same shoes! I know she probably wont care at all but it would be fun if we all had different shoes!! So I think I am totally going to get those ones from Wet Seal!! THANKS again for the suggestion!! I wouldn't have thought to even try there!!

So the other day I had to run into Kohls to pick something up. As I was walking in a cute little lady walking past me said "oh my, you look so lovely with your pale skin and dark hair!"
Wow! I have never, EVER had any one say something like that to me so sincerely!! And she was a stranger!! What an awesome old lady!! She totally made my day!!

On Tuesday night I went to my kickboxing class at Golds Gym. The teacher that is usually there has been really sick, so we had a sub. This lady is awesome!! She works you out like crazy and I am literally dripping with sweat after we have warmed up!! But I always feel fantastic at the end!!
That night we were doing lunges across the room while carrying a weight lifting bar! We had done two sets already with cardio and bicep presses in between and we were now on our last set of lunges!! I thought my legs were going to fall right off!! But the teacher looked right at me and said "you are doing so awesome!! I don't think you know how well you are doing!! You are doing great!"

It made me feel so good about myself!! It's amazing how somethings the little things people say to us, so sincerely and so genuinely, can make our day!! I need to be better about this!! I need to remember how I feel when someone pays me a complement!! I should want to share that feeling with others!!

And now just another quick story about that crazy hard kickboxing class........ I am not even kidding! It is crazy intense!! We do all kinds of kicking and punching and we even do some partner stuff that is awesome!! And like I said, I usually feel ready to be done within the first 15 minutes but then something like this comes on:

It totally gives me motivation to kick higher and punch harder!! It's awesome!! Are you ready to go run a mile now?!?! That's always how I feel after I hear that song!!

The Girl In The Yellow Heels

That is exactly what I need to be in July! The only trouble is that I am having trouble finding the heels!!
My little brother is getting married on July 21st and his cute fiance asked us all to wear yellow shoes! How cool is that!! I am pretty excited about it!! Her colors are awesome and the yellow shoes are going to be amazing!! She had told us that we can wear any style of shoe we want; anything that matches our style! Again, how cool is that!!

I am a big fan of heels!! So I am having no problems with buying a fun new pair!! But like I said, I cant find any!! Have you seen any yellow heels recently? I thought I would post something on here so that everyone can help me out!!! If you see a pair of yellow shoes I would LOVE to know about it!!!

Shoe Requirements:
  • They need to be a pretty bright yellow! Not neon yellow, not pastel, and not golden/mustard yellow!!
  • While I love super high heels, the balls of my feet do not!! I don't know how much I will be on my feet that day, but if they are too high I will be dying in the first 30 minutes!
  • Not a big fan of sling backs. I will wear them if I have not other options, but if I can find something else I would much rather do that!!
  • I love peep toes (gives me an excuse to get a good pedicure), rounded toes and can even do the pointy toe thing depending on the shoe. I will NOT wear a square toed shoe
  • I don't really like bling on my shoes. A little sparkle wouldn't bad but I don't really like big rhinestones or sequins.
  • I still feel like a poor college student!! As much as I would love too, I dont have $200 to spend on these shoes!! The cheaper the better!!

Sooooooo, if you see a pair of shoes any where that fit all the things above I would LOVE to hear from you!!!
THANKS in advance for keeping your eyes out for the perfect pair of shoes!!

P.S. Has any one ever tried dyeable shoes??

Really Mother Nature? Really??

Mother Nature has not been so nice to us here in Utah lately!! We went from beautiful Spring weather to FREEZING cold over night!! We got snow on April 30th for crying out loud!! Really Mother Nature?? Come on, it is supposed to be nice and warm right now!! Why cant we have a month of perfect Spring weather?? Is that too much to ask??
I know it is supposed to warm up this weekend..... all the way to 80 degrees!! Geez!! From 45 to 80 in a matter of days. Winter to Summer....... really Mother Nature, really??

A few weeks ago I was ready to forgive Mother Nature because I found this in the tree right outside my front door:5 perfect little finch eggs!! They seriously looked like those Cadbury mini eggs that were in my Easter basket!! I was SO excited!! I took tons of pictures and planned to document the whole thing! We have had nests in our yard before, it other trees.... but we also have a cat. Lets just say it has not gone so well other years. But this year was going to be different because there was no way my cat could get to this nest!!

After weeks and weeks of watching and waiting, I came home one afternoon and found this:

A cute, almost bald, baby bird!! I have video of it moving around with the mother bird chirping like crazy in the background!! I was so excited!! It wasn't going to be long before the others hatched!!!And sure enough, the next morning the nest was full!!! All but one egg hatched!! Pretty amazing and good odds I thought!! The coolest part about watching these tiny birds was that when you pulled the branches apart, they would fling their heads up and open their tiny beaks ready for a meal! Really Mother Nature, you are amazing!! That poor mother bird hated me I'm sure!! I never missed a chance to look in the tree at these cute birds!! I took pictures every day and lots of video too.

And then Mother Nature struck. Remember Tuesday night when that crazy storm hit with is horrible winds, rain, hail and freezing temperatures........ yeah, not good. Well Wednesday after I got home from work, what did I do.... I looked in the nest!! The little birds were not moving at all......... kind of weird I thought, that they all happened to be sleeping ath the same time. I realized something was not right. I came in and got a Q-tip, went back outside and gently nudged the tiny birds, and none of them move. They were dead...... frozen to death. Really Mother Nature, really?? I know this probably sounds so lame, but I am literally holding back tears right now. Those poor baby birds didn't have a chance once Mother Nature sent in her freak winter-like storm in the middle of spring. This was the last picture I took of them: Poor things!! They were about the size of my thumb and their eyes were not even open yet. It makes me so sad!! Really Mother Nature, really?? They were all huddled together, trying to keep each other warm I'm sure!! But look at them!! They are basically bald!! They didn't stand a chance! I totally realize it's just the circle of life, or whatever you want to call it and I'm sure there are baby birds other places that survived that stupid storm so their will definitely not be a shortage. I was just so excited to watch these baby birds grow! I'm sure I will get over it............................ eventually!! But for now, I am hold my grudge against Mother Nature.

Bring On The Rain

Minus the thunder and lightning!! It HATE those stupid loud booms and flashes of light!! I've hated them since I was little!! I think I can remember the exact moment I became terrified of loud storms!!

I was probably between 4 and 6 years old. There was crazy storm going and I was at home with my little brother, my dad and my grandma was over. The thunder was so loud it was shaking the house and windows!! It was horrible!! But the worst moment was when a bolt of lightning struck close enough that it set our fire alarm off!! I have to put in a little note here that I also HATE the sound of the fire alarm!!

So what did my little 5 year old brain tell me to do?? Get the crap out of the burning house!! I remember throwing open the door and running out into the pouring rain and standing in the middle of the yard in the down pour!! The next thing I remember is my grandma standing in the doorway yelling for me to come back in saying that I was going to get hit by lighting and I was going to get hurt!!

Now what is a 5 year old supposed to do?? Go back in the house, that training has taught me is sure to burn down any second because the fire alarm is blaring like crazy? Or do I stay out in the sheets of rain and get zapped???

I don't remember how I ended up back inside (it was probably partially against my will) but I remember sitting in the kitchen with my dad, sobbing and being so scared!! The storm finally started to pass, and after being assured the house was not on fire, I sort of relaxed. I remember looking out the window and my dad pointing our the old Murray smoke stacks. They, for some really weird reason, were a big comfort to me!!

Anyway, I am not a huge fan of spring/summer storms as they are usually accompanied by thunder and lightning!! But we have been getting TONS of crazy rain lately!! I haven't heard any thunder though.... until this morning!!
But I have been thinking a lot about the rain!

Do you remember being little and running crazy through the rain?? I do!! During those storms, when thunder and lightning were not present, I remember spending long periods of time out in the rain! I didn't care if I was wet, and I didn't care if my hair got ruined!! The more soaked I was, the better!!

I thought about that yesterday and I ran to my car because a torrent rain started as soon as I walked out the door!! I was mad my book was getting wet and I was not to thrilled my hair was sopping wet!! But once I got in the car and started driving home, I saw a couple of kids jumping on the trampoline and totally enjoying every moment of the storm!!

It made me kind of miss those days, when I really didn't care! So I guess for this last month of spring, bring on the rain!!

Blogging For A Friend

One of my very good friends left to serve a mission on Wednesday!!! I miss her a lot already!! I dont have very many single friends any more (I'm pretty much the last lame one to be unmarried) so she and I did things together ALL the time!!
She was also my travel buddy so I am missing her a lot this year as I want to take some weekend vacations!!

Anyway, we thought it would be cool to start a blog for her so people can keep up on all the things she is doing!! I started the blog on Wednesday and will be keeping it up for the next 18 months!!
Soooooo, if you know Sister Christine Hayes, head over to her blog for 2 new posts!! And become a follower of the blog too!!! =0)

Numbers

First I have to say!!!! This is my 100th blog post, wahoo!!! Man it took me a long time to get here!! And if I remember right, I had a goal of getting to 100 my the end of 2009!! Geez I am a lame blogger!!! Maybe this will be the month I am more consistent!!
Do you ever read NieNie? I was catching up on her blog the other day and noticed a 1000th blog post entry!! That's a lot of blogging!!! I'll probably get there one day..... when I'm fifty!! Haha!!
And now that it is a new month I should do a weight update!!! Drum roll please.......... I am now:

pounds lighter!!! Actually I am exactly 10 pounds lighter that I was last month around this time!! I still don't see a ton a difference.... well, I guess that is not exactly true. That is where my pant story comes in. Some of my pants have started to feel kind of big. So rather than going on a fun shopping spree (believe me, it took a lot of self control) I decided it would be cheaper, and lighter on my wallet to just have the pants taken in. So I went to a store in the mall (DO NOT GO THERE PEOPLE) with a bag of about 6 pairs of pants. I had planned on having all of them altered but at the last minute I decided I should probably try 2 pairs first and if I liked how they turned out I would take the others back. It was a dang good thing I only did two pairs...... do you want to know how much it cost????

That's right!! A little over $50 to have TWO pairs of pants taken in!! I was livid!! The lady had a very strong accent and I thought she was saying $15!! I about died after she ran my card and handed me my receipt!! FIFTY DOLLARS!! I could have bought two brand new pairs of pants for that!! Three if I used my Old Navy stuff and save bag!!! I'm STILL angry about it!! Geez!! I really just need to get over it!! I have learned my lesson and WILL NOT go back there again!! I guess the good thing is that it give me an excuse to just get new clothes!! Haha!!

So my weight loss thing has been going on for 3 months. When I started I decided that I was going to see where I was at the end of April and reevaluate from there!! I have done just that!! My new goal is 26 pounds by the middle of July!! Probably kind of crazy, I know...... and I might be cutting it close, but I am pretty motivated!! I have something to picture when I get discouraged or want to be lazy!! If I can make it, I will be a little over half way to my goal!! How dang awesome would that be???
