Good Friends, Good Times

Mmmmmm, can I first just say how much I love Baskin Robins ice cream!! Let me just say that Very Berry Strawberry and World Class Chocolate with hot fudge and whipped cream on top is very delicious!!
I got to eat this yummy treat when I hung out with my friend Lacey!! She and I have been friends since I moved in across the street from her when I was one and a half. She got married a little over a year ago, so we haven't been able to spend much time together, so it was great to hang out with her.
My favorite part though was after we got back from ice cream. We sat in Lacey's car and just talked!! I loved it because we used to do this all time. We just still in the car (sometimes for hours) and just talk about anything and everything. It was so great to catch up on things with her!! I miss seeing her everyday!!

And now for another Mmmmmmmm (my favorite Mmmmmmm), CHEESECAKE!!! I LOVE that stuff!! I got to eat the best kind at the Cheesecake Factory with my awesome friend Nicole!! I miss Nicole too, because she used to work with me, so I got to see and talk to her everyday. Now she is working at the Utah Book Festival, and it can be crazy to try and coordinate our schedules!! But I miss being able to talk to her everyday because she always makes me laugh and who else am I supposed to get advise from about creepy boys!!

All I can say is thank goodness for friends!! I really don't know what I would do with out them!!

I was (and still am) a student and the University of Utah. It was my senior year, and because I changed my mind (and schools) so often, I'm still not quite done.

I was at work at Jordan Credit Union. I have been sick for the last few days, but because of people being on vacation, and people taking their short days, I had to go and tough it out.

Stars, Smores, and Sleeping Bags

So I spent a night in the great outdoors this holiday weekend. My family went up to a campground by Mirror Lake, somewhere high in the Uintah mountains. I wasn't to excited about the trip at first, because I am NOT a camper. But my parents borrowed a motor home, so the trip really wasn't that horrible.
One of my favorite parts was looking up at the stars. It never ceases to amaze me how my stars are in the sky and how beautiful they are. If hadn't been so cold, and if I wasn't so scared of wild animals, it would have be awesome to fall asleep looking at the stars. I had lots of fun trying to remember the constellations and I even saw two shooting stars.
And of course, what would a camping trip be without roasting marshmallows. So we all sat around the fire roasting marshmallows (and Starbursts, haha) and eating yummy smores!!
Next comes sleeping bags, one of my least favorite parts of camping. I feel like I can never get comfortable in those stupid things and they make me feel kind of claustrophobic. So trying to fall asleep was not fun.

The next day we did some 4-wheeling and that fun really fun; I had forgotten how much I like to do that!! The trails we went on were awesome!! My favorite one ended at a river, somewhere near Lily Lake. The area was just so pretty with the flowing water and all the pine trees!!
I only stuck it out for a day though. As pretty as the mountains are, I can only be up there so long.
It felt so good to come home and shower!! I LOVE being clean!! And it was also great to sleep in my own bed, sleeping bag free!!

A Random Assortment of Thoughts

Today has been one of those days where I just keep thinking about a hundred different things: School, work, politics, books, movies, etc. Really just a bunch of random stuff, so I thought I'd write some of it down.

First of all, books. I started reading The Host, and along with feeling like I am betraying the wonderful Edward Cullen, I'm not sure I like it. I don't know if I like the whole body snatchers concept. Some people tell me it's great and that they like it more than Twilight (I think these people are nuts personally) and others who have hated it. But most of all, I have heard that you have to make it through the first couple of chapters and then things get better. So, I'm going to keep plugging along, and hopefully finish it this weekend.
Speaking of Twilight, that brings me to something else I have been thinking about all day. I found out today that Stephenie Meyer has indefinitely stopped writing Midnight Sun. This is because some, dishonest person, took an unfinished copy of the story and posted it online, violating Meyer's copyright. On her website she says "If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die..." I am honestly devastated about it! I miss the Cullen family, and I was SO excited to read the story from Edwards point of view.
It just makes me so sad that some people can be so deceitful and can be so quick betray the trust of their friends. I'm really hoping that after some time passes, Meyer's will go back to the story, because I know that every Twilight fan wants the book in print!!

On to a more touchy topic: Politics. Today John McCain announced his running mate for the presidency; Gov. Sarah Palin from Alaska. I honestly don't know anything about her, and had no idea she was even one of his considerations. Today I was just thinking about what a monumental election it will be this fall. We, as Americans, will either have our first African American president, or our first female vice president.
I do plan to vote in the upcoming election, because I really feel it is my duty as a free American; but at this point I honestly don't know who to vote for. I really wish I had a third option. I guess all I, and everyone else, can do now, is watch both candidates carefully, and go with the one that I think will do the best job.... it's going to be tough.

I won't bore you with my current thoughts on school. My last blog was nothing but a complaint about school and I'm sure that no one wants to hear that again!!
As for my thoughts on work, well, they really are more to do with money. Now that I am back to my part time pay check I feel so poor! How am I going to survive in this expensive world?? I have been trying to decide if I want to get another PT job somewhere to help cover my expenses, but I don't know how I could do that along with school. ***sigh*** I guess I am just going to have to learn how to be frugal!!

And my last though is on the best movie ever: Pride and Prejudice!! I LOVE that movie!! It has been in my DVD player all week long, and I think I have watched it almost every day, some days more than once (and I am watching it as I type, haha)!! The language is so beautiful and the plot line so sweet. Awwww, Mr. Darcy!! Why can there be more men like him in the world!!

Back To School Blues

Well, school starts again tomorrow, for what feels like the millionth time. I'm honestly tired of "the first day of school", and I'm really not to excited about being a super-duper senior. **Insert depressed sigh here** I feel like I have been going to school for way to long, and even though I am so close to being done, I just want to blow it all off and quit.

After graduating high school (clear back in 2003) I decided to go to Utah State University, because I was positive I wanted to be an interior designer and nothing else. After applying, and lots of talking with my parents, I decided that interior design just wasn't going to be profitable here is Utah, so I changed my major. At that point I didn't really know exactly what I wanted to do, and I had to work on my generals any way.
At some point during the first semester I decided I wanted to be a lawyer. I talked to an advisor and declared my major as Philosophy with a minor in Constitutional Law. I finished out the year and decided to transfer to Utah Valley State University because it was near BYU (where I planned on attending Law School).
I liked UVSC, the only problem was that their generals program was different that USU's, so I was spending a lot of time taking classes to finish that. Well at some point, me and my indecisiveness, decided that law school would be hard, and I didn't know if I could do it, so I changed my mind yet again.
My new plan was to become and ASL interpreter. I decided to transfer to Salt Lake Community College because they have an awesome ASL program and it was closer to home. Now, are you ready for this....
After only a few ASL classes, I decided that I was lame and couldn't do interpreting so, what did I do... I changed my major of course!! I now had no idea what I wanted to do, but I did know that I HAD to finally get my stupid Associates Degree. I talked a lot with my best friend Lacey, and decided that I wanted to copy her and become and elementary school teacher.
Finally at the end of 2006 I got my Associates Degree in General Education from Salt Lake Community College. Wahoo!!!

So it was on to the University of Utah... my fourth school (yeah, I'm crazy I know). I had finally decided on a major, Early Childhood Education. I would be able to use my degree to teach Pre-K thru 3rd grade.
And here I am a few semesters later, and guess what.... SURPRISE SURPRISE, I have changed my mind and I don't want to be a school teacher any more. **Insert exacerbated sigh here** I honestly must be the lamest college student out there, to change my mind (and schools) so many times!!
I only have two more semesters left until I have my Bachelors Degree, so I'm just going to keep going until I finish. After that, who knows what I will do!!

So yeah, that is why I dread going back to school. I don't really enjoying the classes all that much, and it's no fun taking classes you don't plan on using. And it's even worse having to take out students loans to pay for a degree I don't plan on using. **Insert the sigh of a poor college student here**
So I just keep plugging along....... 2 more semesters, 2 more semesters..... it will be over before I know it (hopefully)!!

Huge News!!

AHHHHH!!! So I got some exciting news tonight from my friend Danielle and I am still freaking out about it!! What is this fantastic news...... THE TWILIGHT MOVIE IS GOING TO BE RELEASE EARLIER THAN SCHEDULED!! Wahoo right?!?!

Warner Brothers decided to push the release date of Harry Potter clear back to July of 2009, and Summit Entertainment (being the awesome people they are), moved the release date of Twilight up to November 21st!! I am SO excited about it!! That means there are less than 100 days until I get to see the wonderful Edward on screen!! ***insert sigh here***

I went and saw The Dark Knight earlier this week and there was a preview for Twilight before the movie!! Although I have watched the trailer a million times online, there was just something about seeing it on the big screen that made it so much better!! AHHHHH!! It's going to be so great!!

I am disappointed though that I now have to wait so long for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince!! Another whole year, blah!! I read an article about it and they said they did it for money making reasons, which I'm sure is part of the reason. But I think the biggest reason was the two week later release of Twilight.

Don't get me know, I have been and HP fan from the beginning, but Twilight would have killed the boy wizard!! Half Blood Prince would have had a great run for those two weeks, but any records it made would have been crushed when thousands of girls would have flooded theatres to see Edward Cullen!! So they made a smart move, and I will just have to be patient a little longer!!

Really Over??

**Dont read unless you have already finished reading Breaking Dawn**

So, I was one of those crazy people that went to a bookstore on Friday night and got my copy of the last book in the Twilight Saga. I of course had to start reading it as soon as I got home (after drinking a Dr. Pepper and a Cherry Coke) and didnt stop until 4:45 a.m. I woke up at 8:15 a.m. and started reading again. I finally finished the book Sunday night!

I still think about it constantly and I'm still not sure how I feel about it.. I really am torn about it! The first 7 chapters were pretty good, I LOVED the wedding scene a lot! But once the book changed to Jacobs POV I started to dislike it. No, that's not a strong enough word.... hate..... yeah, that one works as harsh as it is! I really didnt know if I was going to be able to make it through the book! It just didnt feel like a Twilight book when it was written from someone elses persepctive. I guess it had to be done, that part of the story probably couldnt have been told any other way... but wasnt it weird?? I kept thinking, this is some funky cross between the X-Files and The Twilight Zone!! Crazy!! Things finally got back to normal when the story switched back to Bella's POV. The end of the book was really intense and I really was unsure how it was going to end!!

But is it really over?? I have so many questions about it!! I feel like there are a lot of loose ends that were not really tied up!! Like..........

*What's life like for Bella and Edward a hundred years from now? Do they ever go to college? Do they go back to high school? If they do, what's their story?? Do they tell people they are husband and wife? Or how do they tell people she is part of their family? Do they ever have to leave Fork because people start getting suspicious? What ever happens with Rene? Does she ever see her again or tell her anything thats going on??

*And what about Jake and Nessie?? What kind of relationship do they have?? What's Nessie like when she is all grown up? Do they live with the Cullen's? And how are they explained to the outside world?

*AND the Volturi?? What ever happens with them? She was never really clear about if they were going to stop harassing the Cullens. If fact, she made if sound like Aro would never quit! So, what ever happens? Does there have to be some kind of big vampire battle?? Who wins? And who really are the good and bad guys!!

The list goes on and on!!! It serisously drives me crazy with wonder!! So could this really be the end of the Twilight Saga?? I really wish that Stephenie Meyers would come up with some kind of 100 Years Later Epilogue or something!! I just NEED to know how things work out!!
